VolleyFreak, Jr. Junior Olympic Volleyball Athlete Contract

As a VolleyFreak, Jr. Junior Olympic volleyball athlete, you will make new friends, learn new skills, be a member of a team and grow within yourself. By making a commitment to volleyball you are making a commitment to yourself, your team and your club. As an athlete or parent, you are representing VolleyFreak, Jr. JO Club at all times. Our club holds certain expectations of coaches, players and parents to ensure our season is successful and a positive environment for all. You must be able to follow all instructions and directions from your coach and get along with others. Specific guidelines are outlined for parents and players by the VolleyFreak, Jr. JO Club, which everyone must follow. Parents and players please read carefully and sign at the bottom of the page.

Player expectations:

1. Players are expected to be on time to all events and ready for play at the scheduled time.
2. Players are expected to be at every practice unless notifying the coach prior to practice time.
3. Players missing or arriving late to practice, playdates or tournaments will not be tolerated, and playing time will be affected. See policy book for details.
4. Playing time will be determined by the coach(s). Playing time will be as equal as possible with the exception of tournaments.
5. Playing time will be determined by work ethic, skill, teamwork, attitude, position and attendance.
6. Infractions such as disruption, damage to property, running through the halls, not remaining in the gym, etc will also affect playing time and appropriate consequences will be determined by the coach(s).
7. Players are expected to listen to the coach(s), follow instructions, have a positive attitude and support teammates at all times.
8. Players must be cooperative and considerate to coaches, teammates, club members, parents, building supervisors, custodial staff and opponent’s team members, coaches and parents.
9. Players do not wear your volleyball shoes to practice or outside (bring them with you and only wear indoors).
10. As members of the VolleyFreak, Jr. JO VB Club, it is important to understand that the use or possession of alcohol or other chemicals is illegal, harmful to an individual’s health and detrimental to the club’s mission. Your commitment to leading a chemically free lifestyle is essential to your success and participation in our program and in life.  Players must not use or possess alcohol or chemicals throughout the volleyball season. Players are responsible to encourage other players/teammates to abstain from these illegal activities also. Players must understand that consequences for these illegal activities during the season will be taken. Please keep the best interest of yourself and your team in mind throughout the season.

Parent expectations:

1. Parents are expected to encourage all players, have a positive attitude and an adult manner at all events.
2. Parents are expected to be supportive of coaches’ decisions.
3. Ridiculing or badgering of officials, coaches or players is not tolerated. In the event this would happen, parents or spectators will be asked to leave the premises.

Players & Parents: If there is an issue that needs to be addressed, it is the player’s responsibility to present it to the coach(s) first. If the issue cannot be resolved at that level, then the parent may get involved with the player & coach(s). Please set up a time to discuss the issue outside of a practice, league playdate or tournament. If the issue still cannot be resolved and further resolution is needed, club directors may be asked to get involved, but not until the first 2 steps have occurred.  By signing this contract, I have read and will comply with the expectations for the VolleyFreak, Jr. JO Volleyball Club as an athlete or parent. I realize that I am the only one responsible for my actions and the only one who can control if I follow the expectations that have been set. I realize that if I choose to violate these expectations, there will be consequences in loss of playing time, removed from a site or be temporarily or permanently suspended from the VolleyFreak, Jr. JO Volleyball Club without a refund.  Everyone is here to have fun and learn so let’s make it an enjoyable and memorable season!!!
